Soundsnap: Free Online Sharing Sound Library

Soundsnap is a free online sound library. It is a huge community of sound designers, producers and music arrangers where they upload and share sounds sample free of charge. You heard me right — FREE!

Soundsnap plane to support their operation costs by advertising and they might offer premium services in the future where paying user will have access to high quality samples. However, before that happens, now you can use every bit of their service absolutely free.

Soundsnap was started by Tasos Frantzolas, a young sound designer
living in Athens, Greece. There is no big investor or venture
capitalist behind this. Tasos brought together a team of 20 people who
are the core of the community and collected 30.000 quality sounds to
offer to the public for free!

Tasos created Soundsnap because people are moving from sample CD’s and sound effects libraries to
looking for sounds online. Everything is becoming digital and free.
There was no one online offering a huge library of free material that
was really high quality. Before Soundsnap, most sites were either paid
sites or they had a lot of junk.

Learn more about Soundsnap at their FAQ page.

Soundsnap got a very nice interface. You can browse samples by categories and also by tags. They also provide an easy search box which ease the accurate search of the right samples. Now you can have the option to save your money from buying sample CDs and get free samples at Soundsnap.
To make it big, register as a user and contribute your samples too. You can also rate the sample and audition it before you download your preferred format: mp3, wav or aiff.
