The Most Suitable Songs For Wedding

The is a great discussion started by NoahZark at Keyboard Magazine Forums about the best songs to play during a wedding ceremony.

I still remember during my wedding dinner, I have several local artists and musicians singing a song each. I am grateful to all of them because they have to sing all the songs I requested. Each of the different songs actually represents a certain period of my love story with my wife. Daniel Lee is not yet a winner of Malaysian Idol Singing Competition at that time. He performed Have I told you lately that I love you by Rod Stewart.

I’ve performed many times for wedding dinner. Most of the time I tried to sing the requested songs. But sometimes the host is not fussy and I can pretty much sing or play the songs I think is appropriate. My list includes:

On Eagle Wings

Everyday I love you – Boyzone
Because you love me – Celine Dion
When you say nothing at all – Ronan Keating
How deep is your love – Bee Gees
Paint My love – Michael Learns to Rock

and many other pop tunes famous in Asia.

Let’s look at what’s suggested by the forum members:

  • Pachelbel’s Canon in D,
Wagner’s Wedding March (for the bride’s walk), and Mendelssohn’s
Wedding March (for the bride/groom exit)

There are plenty of love songs that you can sing in a wedding gig. But, these are the songs you CANNOT sing, unless you want your butt kicked out of the ceremony.. 🙂
    1) I will survive
    2) Killing me softly
    3) Careless Whisper
    4) Tell laura I love her
and many toni braxton songs, like..
    5) another sad love song
    6) Unbreak my heart
    7) How could an angel break my heart
and of course, the Celine Dion favourite..
    8) My heart will go on..
