Avril Lavigne isn’t really a Songwriter?

Chantal Kreviazuk is the behind the scene songwriter who pens hits with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and Avril Lavigne.

“I mean, Avril, songwriter? Avril doesn’t really sit and write songs by
herself or anything. Avril will also cross the ethical line, and no one
says anything,” Kreviazuk — who was not included on Lavigne’s latest
album — told the magazine before retracting her statement. The Matrix
later came out to defend Lavigne’s songwriting integrity

Does it really matter if your favourite singer doesn’t wrote his/her own songs?

You won’t care if what you like about your favourite artist are:

  • the remarkable vocal performance
  • the jaw-dropping live performances
  • the outstanding character and artistic spirit projected

hmm… good question, i listen to all types of music, but some how, the ability to write his / her own song does influence me about the artist. I mostly enjoy, with great respect, for those artists who can write and perform their hit songs, like utada hikaru, harlem yu, sheryl crow, bryan adams, jay chou, ken hirai, yoshiki (x japan)… however, i do listen to artists who dont write most of their own songs but still a very good singer… stephanie sun yan zi… still, more respect to the composers and arrangers to bring alive a beautiful piece of music.
