555 Fantastic Piano Festival - Largest Piano Concert

by KCLau on October 13, 2007

Five hundred fifty five pianos (555) were played simultaneously in Incheon, the most ever played at one time and place anywhere in the world. The concert was sponsored by Young Chang and Kurzweil, the nation’s largest piano manufacturer. The event as organized to congratulate the bidding team on winning 2014 Asian Games.

One concert grand piano is already enough to rock a stadium. But 555 pianos played together? I can’t imagine it. Too bad that I can’t find any photo on the event. If you have any source, please share with us.

Good morning.

For more than 35 years I have been a geometry teacher at Dinuba high school. I have often wondered why grand pianos all seem to be able to have their lids opened to approximately the same acute angle. Is it primarily because of acoustics or aesthetics? Your response will hopefully help me frame a mathematical answer to my question.

He is risen!
