That's why if you listen closely, you will notice a lot of extensions to the basic chords he is using. I hear a lot of maj7th and some maj9th in it.. and also some G/A too if i'm not mistaken.. These are just a few ways to spice up your normal pop song.. giving it a more jazzy feel. Actually KCLau has been playing jazz for quite some time also.
