How to play One Note Samba, the funky way..

The idea came to me when I was in the toilet doing… something. I use to perform this song alone with only a piano in bossa nova style, which turned out to be not so satisfying even for myself. That’s why instead of trying to make it sound good following the original bossa nova style of this song, I decided to change the whole arrangement of the song. This is what I came up with..

Morale of the story, when performing piano solos, there will be a lot of songs that won’t sound so good if you stick to the original style of the tune. We as solo pianist, will find it very difficult to cover every part of the rhythm section in certain songs, therefore must resolve to other methods to orchestrate the whole music we are playing.

The recording you heard earlier is just one way to play this song, try to come up with your own version, and be creative. And don’t forget to have fun… and enjoy…………
