Alternative of piano programming

Try create a song using Grotrian Piano. You can drag and drop different note (pitch) into the main playing box. The note will play when it hits the wall. You can even drag a chord into the box. Tempo is not so flexible. I would like it to have a "save" function for our composition replay. Try it out. It is really fun.

Ostinato patterns in improvisation

Ostinatos are to classical music what riffs are to popular music. There is a great explanation of the definition of ostinato at Wikipedia. The repeating idea may be a rhythmic pattern, part of a tune, or a complete melody.[1] Both "ostinatos" and "ostinati" are accepted English plural forms. Here are some simple steps to get the improvisation started at your piano: 1. Create an ostinato or riff on ...

Chucho Valdes - Son No.1

I have never seen a pianist be able to play so fast chops and technique in just one piece of composition. Chucho Valdes is really amazing. He plays the piano like it is a toy! Simply hitting the keys but it still sounds good. A real master indeed [youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VCME9tp9Es]

Joe Sample & Randy Crawford - Street Life

Joe sample is one of my favourite pianist of all time. His improvisation is the most melodious I heard so far compared to other pianist. He can really make the piano sings! The video shows one of his live recording session. Drummers, double-bassist, Joe Sample himself playing the piano and Randy Crawford singing Joe's composition - Street Life. I like Joe's groove very much! Street life lyrics. [youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw32bztXEnE]

Duet of the fastest jazz pianist: Chick Corea & Hiromi Uehara - Spain

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZaOd-fvWU0] I believe there is no need to tell you more about Chick Corea, the fastest jazz pianist known to me. I wonder how his mind think of the notes -- 100 notes per second??? I really have no idea! It is simply too fast! Let's hear something about Hiromi Uehara Hiromi Uehara first mesmerized the jazz community with her 2003 Telarc debut, Another Mind.
